Greater investments in energy efficiency programs mean more local economic development, more jobs and a better economy.
Energy efficiency is a $1.5B industry in Virginia that supports more than 75,000 jobs.
Energy efficiency jobs are diverse and can be found in every sector from construction to sales, to manufacturing and technology. Many of these jobs cannot be outsourced and employees live in the communities they serve.
Energy efficiency is one of the most practical, cost-effective tools to reduce our energy consumption and dependency on fossil fuels, which in turn, helps reduce carbon emissions and spurs economic development.
With the commitment by the electric utilities, as part of the Grid Transformation and Security Act of 2018, to spend over $1B on efficiency programs over the next decade, Virginia is setting the stage for a total transformation of the energy efficiency industry.
