January 2024: Community Housing Partners
Our January Member of the Month is Community Housing Partners! Founded in 1975, Community Housing Partners (CHP) is a Virginia-based non-profit headquartered in Christiansburg, VA. Their mission is to create homes and communities that are healthy, sustainable, and affordable. Their more than 400 employees deliver a wide range of services, including real estate development, construction, energy services and training, asset management, property management, realty and homeownership, and comprehensive resident services. They champion housing stability, and Their work within Their communities reflects Their core values of resilience, impact, stewardship, and equity.
CHP Energy Solutions, a division of CHP, provides government funded and utility-sponsored programs across Virginia and southern West Virginia. Programs deliver weatherization and energy efficiency improvements at no-cost to qualifying residents, landlords, renters, and homeowners. CHP Energy Solutions operates crews and auditors across Virginia, and partners with a trusted contractor network to deliver these services. They are the largest weatherization provider in Virginia and serve thousands of households every year. Their programs lower utility bills for clients while increasing health & safety. Additionally, they offer building science and energy conservation education and certifications through Their Training Center, training 40,000 students across the U.S., Canda, and Latin America since 1999.
They look forward to another year of improving homes, building partnerships, training students, and serving those most in need. This past year, they are grateful to have been able to:
+ Lead innovative community outreach efforts across the state, including a sign-up event in a mobile home park in Fairfax and a Community Weatherization Day at a multifamily property They were weatherizing in Harrisonburg.
+ Officially open their Baltimore Training Center Campus and collaborate with The Energy Conservancy (TEC) on an innovative Training video.
+ Begin transitioning all teams over to a central CRM software, enhancing their ability to communicate between staff, track data across teams, and serve clients better across multiple programs.
+ Serve hundreds of households through the RGGI-funded Weatherization Deferral Repair (WDR) Program repairing roofs, upgrading HVAC systems, remediating health and safety hazards, and more.
+ Hold their first annual all staff Summit in Blacksburg, VA with over 100 CHP staff and leadership, along with several agency partners.
